We have deployed numerous design and operational innovations to help us achieve higher energy efficiency within our data centre.
Reduce power consumption and increase cooling capacity through active airflow management using intelligent, distributed sensors and innovative control policies.
Reduce power consumption for cooling, while maintaining a safe operating temperature for computing equipment; moving from A1 recommended to A1 allowable.
Lowers energy consumption and enables more efficient cooling by using physical barriers to reduce mixing cold air in data centre supply aisles with the hot air in exhaust aisles.
Utilise motion-activated controls and/or LEDs to reduce energy consumption and ambient heat from operating lights.
Offer performance/quality, reliability and resilience, placing power near where it is consumed.
Identify new energy efficiency improvements in our data centres.
Improve our design and operational PUEs by raising the chilled water temperature to save energy.
Recycles waste heat that can be shared with local communities (offices, schools, etc.). This reduces CO2 emissions and other harmful gases.
Leverage natural alternatives to hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) that do not deplete the ozone layer and have a lower environmental impact.
LEED accreditation or equivalent green building standards are Equinix’s policy for all new construction. Equinix also certifies sites to standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and US EPA Energy Star for Data Centres, as well as local certifications, such as Singapore’s BCA Green Mark. Many Equinix data centres offer 100% renewable energy. Sites with renewable energy may be claimed by Equinix and its customers as net-zero carbon emissions for Scope 2 emissions from electricity consumption.
Equinix partners with like-minded organizations and companies and participates in a variety of industry and NGO advocacy opportunities, initiatives and activities. Our renewable energy procurement and sustainable innovations have also been recognized by industry and non-governmental organizations worldwide.
